In two hours is my last final. ^_^;;; Don't you love that feeling... when you've worked super hard (for an entire week, non-stop pretty much!) and then you know it's going to end and you'll have absolutely nothing to do... nothing to worry about. I guess the feeling is so sweet because it happens so seldomly. If my vacation was more than 5 weeks I would go nuts though. I need to feel productive, after all. But this feeling of knowing I can relax for five weeks is looovely. =]
This final is my hardest though... history... I'm really nervous about it because history is not my thing. But I'm getting A's in all my classes (history is an A-, which is amazing actually for that class) so I figure that even if I do really poorly my grade won't be lower than a B or B-. Which I can live with. So booya. And I can probably wing it/BS a lot anyway.
Lots of holiday love! |

How to Raise Kids Who Think for Themselves
Early lessons in independence. Seven unorthodox lessons from Sudbury Valley. By: Hara Estroff Marano
1. Children are full human beings who, from about the age of 5, can direct their own education and build their own lives—if they are given trust.
2. Good teachers model self-expression and the ability to stand up for ideas. They don't just pass on information.
3. Free play is crucial to natural development. The better people are at play, the better they are at fashioning new models with which to understand the world and at learning to take risks.
4. Conversation and collaboration are keys to learning, the exchange of ideas and the ability to tap into another person's world.
5. Learning is driven internally by curiosity, a drive that normally can't be stopped at any age. Rote teaching is the opposite. It's driven by coercion, which, given human nature, breeds resistance. The assumption that there's no learning without teaching flies in the face of human experience.
6. Creative children are often labeled mentally challenged in traditional schools, simply because they cannot pay attention or tolerate the unnatural confinement of the classroom. They are often medicated and think of themselves as losers, while kids who never learn to think on their own are treated as healthy.
7. Children have to grow up practicing responsibility to ultimately take responsibility for themselves. That means allowing children to exercise their interests and use their judgment to solve problems—and giving them the freedom to make mistakes. |

I know that I've been a horrible LJ friend lately. =( but I have been reading entries and stuff, so yay! =P
I've been super busy with so much stuff these past two weeks... this summer class mandates a lot of work! Next week is my last week though, and this Thursday my class is cancelled. So that's yayness... but in the next two weeks I have another 10-15 pg. paper and two exams, including a final. So I'll be really busy for the next two weeks... and then a week later the fall semester begins, haha. I want to get a lot of GRE stuff done during that week.
Ahhhh, I just want to relax! I'm literally giving myself just like one day a week to relax. And during that day I don't even want to go out, I just want to stay in my PJs all day and watch TV and read for leisure. All the other days of the week I'm either writing a lab report, studying for an exam, or reading two gigantic chapters in the textbook.
Okay, back to work! |

I'm tired, but not ready to go to bed yet! I think that I have a cold, or maybe just baaaad allergies. Lots of things going on this month. I have class tomorrow, Wed., and Thursday. On Thursday, my first lab report is due, and we're having a test! Ack. Friday I'm going out to eat with some people. This weekend I'll hopefully be able to stay with Shawn. Next week I only have class twice because my teacher cancelled our Thursday class. Don't know when that exam will be given, though. And then I only have a week left of class. After that, I have a week of rest and relaxation before my Fall 2006 semester begins. I probably won't be around much that week. And somewhere in the mix is a lovely Fab3 reunion, hopefully! =)
Love you guys! =) |

The more things change, the more they stay the same. And it's funny how some things just don't change. |

Okay, I feel better now. That entry below was just a crazy rant. I'm more in control of myself now. Yes. I am. I'm good.
Though I still have extremely selfish wants sometimes.. especially when I'm PMSing... and during these bouts of selfishness I seem to never get what I want, or rather I can never be satisfied. No one's fault, of course.
Time to do homework... to get my mind off the fact that I'm lonely! When did that happen?? |

This is good, considering my field. =P
| Your EQ is 140 | 50 or less: Thanks for answering honestly. Now get yourself a shrink, quick! 51-70: When it comes to understanding human emotions, you'd have better luck understanding Chinese. 71-90: You've got more emotional intelligence than the average frat boy. Barely. 91-110: You're average. It's easy to predict how you'll react to things. But anyone could have guessed that. 111-130: You usually have it going on emotionally, but roadblocks tend to land you on your butt. 131-150: You are remarkable when it comes to relating with others. Only the biggest losers get under your skin. 150+: Two possibilities - you've either out "Dr. Phil-ed" Dr. Phil... or you're a dirty liar. |

Okay... so I got caught up with everyone on my friend's list. If I missed something and you wanted a comment on a certain entry, lemme know.
I had a great time on vacation! I have 150+ pictures, but they'll have to come later.... waaaay too busy to fuss around with that right now! I'll hopefully get to it tomorrow or Thursday night, although that depends on how tired I am.
My summer class starts this Tuesday. It's Tues., Wed., and Thurs., from 6-9:20PM. Late, I know. |
